Who's that saxophonist on the cover??

I was pleasantly surprised to find the latest printing of the VCS Radio Conservatory instrument selection guide had one of our great students of the VCS Radio Symphony and Jazz, Jack Gardner. The picture was taken at The VCS Radio Jazz Ensemble recording sessions at Capitol Records Studios in Hollywood. the photo was taken by his brother Scott.
I wonder if it will inspire the new 3rd graders to learn the saxophone!!   :)

Beethoven and Stravinsky -- Heroes of Video Games!

VCS Radio Symphony explores the influences of the great musical masters on video games. We start with Beethoven's Egmont Overture and go to the highly stylized Stravinsky's Firebird. Both are icons of the great concert halls, but also find their influence into the virtual world of video gaming. The VCS Radio Symphony will close the performance with familiar video game music.

The concert is at the Vacaville performing Arts Theater November 8th at 7:30pm -- right after the VCS Radio Elementary Wind &amp…
