Upcoming concert to be EPIC

Many hours of work will pay off in a great performance this Tuesday November 8th. Beethoven and Stravinsky shares the stage as these talented students set their sights on two iconic works that influenced music from pop the cinema.

Beethoven's Egmont Overture is the opening to the play, Egmont, by Goethe. It was first premiered in 1810 and now, 206 years later, VCS Radio Symphony puts it's fresh perspective on this exciting and instantly recognizable work.

Who's that saxophonist on the cover??

I was pleasantly surprised to find the latest printing of the VCS Radio Conservatory instrument selection guide had one of our great students of the VCS Radio Symphony and Jazz, Jack Gardner. The picture was taken at The VCS Radio Jazz Ensemble recording sessions at Capitol Records Studios in Hollywood. the photo was taken by his brother Scott.
I wonder if it will inspire the new 3rd graders to learn the saxophone!!   :)

VCS Radio Conservatory students spend time in "The Cage"

It's designed to be a playground of sound -- a carousel of cacophony -- a center of sound effects -- well it was a construct of students designed and built years ago out of donated steel pipes and bridge parts (yes, I said bridge parts). LIVE from Studio D on VCS Radio

Listen to the amazing students of VCS Radio as they present live shows from Studio D Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays at 3pm in a free-form show we call "LIVE from Studio D." The kids come up with some interesting impromptu subjects and great music!
